RAY BIGGS "Raymond Francis St. John Biggs" May 7, 1918 - March 19, 2003 On March 19, 2003, peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer Ray passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 84. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gladys; and their two sons, Douglas (Sally) and Robert (Darlene). Also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ray was predeceased by his father Frank and mother Jean; and his siblings, Geraldine, Eileen, Kathleen and Allan. He was the last of that Biggs Generation. Ray was born May 7, 1918 in England coming to Canada as a child. He lived his life in Winnipeg with the exception of the war years when he served with R.C.A.F. Ray was always interested in building, and as he was trained as a carpenter, he put his skills to the construction of cottages at both West Hawk Lake and Silver Harbour. He enjoyed the cottages and family activities there immensely. Ray had a fine and quick sense of humour which he retained until his death, often delighting those around him. Ray was very proud of his Irish Heritage and visited his familys ancestral home of Calitrim in Bandon, Cork, Ireland. Ray worked for the CNR beginning as an apprentice, becoming a foreman in the Fort Rouge and Transcona shops and continuing until retirement as a senior analyst with the railway. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and loving care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. GARRY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATION CENTRE 1291 McGillivray Blvd 925-1120
