Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY EDNA DOUGLAS (nee COPPOCK) It is with the utmost grief and sorrow that we announce the passing of Audrey Douglas at Seven Oaks General Hospital on March 20, 2003, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Audrey was born in Winnipeg on November 2, 1925, the daughter of Ruby (Wharton) and Frederick Coppock. During her formative years, Audrey lived on the family acreage in Transcona. Following a fire, which claimed their home in 1934, the Coppock family moved to West Kildonan district of Winnipeg where Audrey resided throughout the remainder of her life. As a young girl, Audrey attended school in West Kildonan, graduating from Centennial School. During her school days, Audrey made many friends with whom she remained in close contact throughout her life. In 1949, Audrey married John (Jack) Barry Douglas with whom she enjoyed raising two children, a daughter Carolyn, and a son, Robert. Both Jack and Audrey were staunch supporters of the Royal Canadian Legion, West Kildonan Branch, until Jacks sudden passing in July 1978. Although Jacks death left a terrible void in Audreys life, she was bolstered by the love and care granted to her by her son and daughter. During the 1980s, Audrey became a grandma to three grandsons and two granddaughters who she cherished very much. She particularly enjoyed family gatherings where the entire clan would get together to celebrate one event or another. Audrey was predeceased by her mother Ruby, in 1935; her father Frederick, in 1972; her husband John in 1978; and her aunt Elizabeth, also in 1978. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Carolyn Halbert (Don) of Lac du Bonnet; and son Robert Douglas (Angela) of Whitby, ON; along with brothers, John Coppock (Doris) of Thunder Bay, ON; Ed Coppock (Jean) of Winnipeg and Doug Coppock of Winnipeg. Her three grandsons, Stephen, Jeffrey and Timothy Halbert; and her granddaughters, Alicia and Lauren Douglas; along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive her. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of 5, U-1 Seven Oaks General Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion during Audreys final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M3 in Audreys memory. Viewing will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Sunday, March 23 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Johns Anglican Cathedral, 135 Anderson, at 11:00 a.m. on March 24, with The Rev. Canon John D. Caird officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Coppock, Murray Douglas, Phil Dupas, Ron Fuller, Doug Moors, and Bob Wickens.
