VERA DAISY JOHNSON The family of Vera Daisy Johnson celebrates with gratitude the life our our beloved Mother. Vera passed away March 19, 2003 at the Grace Hospital. She was born on a homestead in Mulvihill, MB on July 6, 1914, the child of industrious Swedish immigrants. A tiny baby who fought for survival, she grew up on a rocky farm with her three sisters. All the girls worked hard helping their parents on the farm and their childhood, although poor, was filled with laughter, love and music. Vera was predeceased by her dear husband Mattias Arnberg in 1977; by her parents, Walmer and Augusta Berg; her sister Violet Tonnellier; her son-in-law Alex Young and her uncle Einar Berg. She is survived by three children, Reg and wife Nancy, Doreen Young, Warren and wife Doreen. Her seven grandchildren, Karen Stewart, Patty Antoniak, Janice Molyneaux, Joanne Loughery, Susan Crockett, Bob Young and Kathryn Johnson, all of whom brought her great joy. They will never forget their times with Grandma - eating ponnukakurs, playing scrabble, watching soaps and working on crafts. Her great grandchildren, Mark and David Loughery, Bradley and Daniel Molyneaux, Leah and John Crockett, Matthew and William Stewart and Jeremy Young were a source of enormous pride. She is also survived by her twin sister Ruth Boden, and her youngest sister Mabel Sjoblom, plus many nieces and nephews. Vera enjoyed her 20 years of service with the T. Eaton Co. She was a woman of prodigious talent and incredible industry. She sewed beautifully and made exquisite afghans which warmed all her family at the lake and at home, not to mention the many she donated to charity. Her intricate handmade pictures grace all our homes. In later years she enjoyed the company of many friends at Kirkoff Gardens and after moving back to her apartment she enjoyed her Friday visits at the Golden Links. Dorothy and Herbie always made her feel welcome. She was very fond of animals and particularly loved dogs, especially her times with Niki and Cleo at Victoria Beach. The family deeply appreciate the concern and care of the wonderful Victoria Hospital staff. Special thanks to Ivy. Many thanks to Dr. Salem for years of compassionate care. Tuxedo Villa staff were very dedicated and helpful and we appreciate their efforts. We owe the emergency staff at Grace Hospital our gratitude for their professionalism and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Veras life will be held on Monday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Veras memory to the Cerebral Palsy Association, 1060 Ellice Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0C9 or a charity of choice. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD. 680 Archibald Street 253-5086
