ALEX ZORNICK 1916 - 2003 Peacefully on March 21, 2003 at Concordia Hospital Alex Zornick passed away at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife June. He was a wonderful and caring husband and a proud man. Alex was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters, as well as one son, Lee in 1995. Alex was the last of his siblings. Alex was born in East Selkirk on March 3, 1916 and left at a young age to find work in British Columbia. Alex worked in Prince Rupert and Kitimat, BC building roads through the mountains. He joined Teamsters-Local 213 and worked for many years as a heavy duty truck driver for BC Hydro helping to build many of the dams, such as; Bennett, Mica, 7 Mile and Campbell Rivers Dams. He spent many years living in BC and then returned to Winnipeg when he retired in 1981. Alex was an Honorary member of Local-213. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Derek (Lucette) Lavallee, Diana Lavallee and her children, Chris, Trisha, Scott Broszeit, all of Winnipeg. Gary (Jane) Lavallee, of England. Janice (Wayne) Lavallee-Peppar, of New Westminster, BC, as well as two grandsons, Russell and Brian also of BC. Alex was always ready to help his friends and neighbours. He was just that kind of guy, always happy go-lucky, always smiling and full of jokes, he loved to pull pranks. God Bless our friends and neighbours for being there for us during his illness. He was deeply grateful to them all for their help. Alex would like you to remember him as he was and asks that this poem be included for you all. To My Friends When I quit this mortal Shore, And mosey around this earth no more. Dont weep, dont sigh, dont grieve, and dont sob, I may have struck a better job. Dont go and buy a large "Bouquet" For which youll find it hard to pay. Dont stand around looking blue I may be better off than you. Love Alex Thank you to all the staff on 3E for all their wonderful care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and at Alexs request no funeral will be held. However a private family burial will take place at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to Concordia Hospital; it would be appreciated if you so desire.
