AUSTIN ALFRED DALE Suddenly, on March 23, 2003, Austin Dale passed away at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife Emily, brother Maurice Dale, and sister Violet Palmer. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter and son-in-law Eileen and Ron Metcalfe; grandsons, Paul, Scott and Brent; sisters, June Inglis and Ina Sampson and husband Gordon, and many other relatives and friends. Dad lived a full life centered on family, faith, music and education. His forty one year teaching career took him to Otterburn, Piney, Amaranth, MacDonald, Oakville, Stoney Mountain, Gilbert Plains, and Winnipeg. His family remained his major focus. He talked about Emily, Maurice and Violet and always asked about his sisters, June and Ina, and his beloved grandsons. Although he was hampered by memory loss, their names never left him. His commitment to church life was strong. He was a founding member of Wesley United Church, now Immanuel United, served on the board, was Sunday School Superintendent, and sang in the choir for over forty years. Music was a source of joy for him throughout his life. He played violin and piano, as well as sang. He never lost his wit, intelligence and sense of humour, often making up new verses to old songs that were funnier than the original. We will miss his cheerful, positive outlook. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Middlechurch Home for their wonderful care and the programs that Dad enjoyed so much, especially the sing-a-longs, church services, concerts, outings, teas, parties and wonderful ice cream sundaes. Rest in peace, Dad, with your loved ones rejoined and questions answered. Following a private family interment, there will be a memorial service held at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St., at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, with Rev. Doug McMurtry officiating, a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St., Winnipeg, MB R2K 2V4 Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
