Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMINA ELAINE COOK (nee WARDROP) Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on March 19, 2003, our beloved mother and grandmother Elaine passed away at the Grace Hospital. Elaine was born in Winnipeg on July 27, 1916, the second of five children. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; sisters, Phyllis, Tillie and Marie; and brother Bob. Elaine received her Bachelor of Arts and teaching certificate from Wesley College in 1937 and went on to get her Bachelor of Education later. She taught at Langruth and Sanford early in her career and after her children were born, at William Whyte and then Brock Corydon School. Elaine loved children and greatly enjoyed her teaching career. She was a favourite of her students as well as their parents, and always found time to help those in difficulty. Elaine was very fond of skating, needlework, walking, music, reading and her Christmas baking. She leaves behind to mourn her passing children, Tom (Karol), Pat (Alan) and grand-children, Dan, Amy (Dave) and Pamela; as well as many dear relatives and friends. Mom had a very strong faith and lived it every day. We will all miss her kindness, generosity and unwavering concern for others. A more devoted mother and grandmother there could not be, and her passing will forever change our lives. She was the gentlest soul on earth. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire, donations can be made to any childrens charity of your choice.
