FREDERICK CHRISTIAN After a lengthy battle with cancer, Frederick Christian passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie and his brother Alexander. Fred leaves to mourn his passing his wife Kathleen; sons, Gordon and Rick; daughter Kathy; grandson Garrett; granddaughters, Erin and Marcail; nieces, Connie and Anne; nephew Angus; Jim and Myra OBrien; and many other relatives in Canada, Scotland and England. Serving in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, C Battery, 1st Field Regiment during the Second World War, he fought in Italy, France and the Netherlands. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, St. James Branch No. 4. Fred was born April 13, 1920. He spent most of his working life with Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in 1984. During his life, he had many interests and an artistic eye which lead him in his younger years to dabble in portrait and landscape painting, sculpturing miniature soldiers and was for many years an avid collector of the latter. He had a strong presence and strength of character, having a steadfast and honest personality and always remaining true to his convictions. He will be greatly missed by his family. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 25, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. also in the chapel.
