Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED SLATCHER On Saturday, March 22, 2003, Alfred Slatcher, aged 80 years, passed on peacefully with his family by his side, at Stonewall District Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrtle; and his children, Gail Martinussen (Ken), Emily Inman, Richard (Dick) Slatcher (Mary Jane), Randall (Randy) Slatcher (Cathie) and Susan Sanderson. Also left to mourn are his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Nellie Stolehandski, Rose Oughton, Mabel McPhederan and Earleen Woods. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank Slatcher and Eric Slatcher; and his son-in-law Clinton Inman. Alf was born in Webb, SK, and served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces. A long standing resident of Stonewall, MB, he was actively involved in the community as a businessman, town councillor and hockey coach. Alf loved to fish and hunt, and in his later years he enjoyed gardening with Myrtle. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Honorary pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Wade Martinussen, Shawn Slatcher, Shane Inman, Jeff Slatcher, Adam Sanderson and Curtis Sanderson; and special friends, Don Wiznick and Ray Bowman. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Pinniger and the wonderful staff at the Stonewall Hospital. Should friends so desire, donations in Alfs memory can be made to the Palliative Care Room in care of Stonewall Hospital. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
