RONALD ARTHUR COLLYER March 21, 1956 - March 23, 2003 Peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2003, Ron passed away with his wife and family at his side at Riverview Health Centre. Ron is survived by his loving wife Bonnie; father Leigh; mother Vera; brother Raymond (Sharon) and brother Terry (Francine). Ron is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Glen. Ron found his true love, soul mate and best friend, Bonnie. They were truly meant for each other. They laughed together, dreamed together and cried together. It was their deep love and commitment for one another that helped them through the last two very difficult and emotional years. That is what love is all about. Ron was also loved and embraced by Bonnies family, her parents Nick and Terry Yetcishin and by her sisters, Allison Rondeau (Kim) and Laurie Tosh (Morley) and their families, who will all miss him deeply. Ron was always close to his brother Terry, sister-in-law Francine and their family, niece Kim Siemens (Rev. James) of Nipawin, SK and nephew Darren (Andrea Baksh). Ron always was and always will be a big part of their lives. Ron had an active, almost restless nature. He loved the summers at the family cottage on Lake of the Woods where he enjoyed many outdoor activities like water-skiing, windsurfing and swimming. He also grew to enjoy golf, mountain biking, downhill and cross-country skiing. But Rons first love was flying. He earned his Private Pilots License at the age of 25 with the dream of becoming a commercial pilot. His less than perfect eyesight kept him from doing what he loved. To relax and forget his troubles, Ron enjoyed watching and listening to the aircraft traffic in and out of Winnipeg International Airport. Ron always put others before himself. If you needed help, Ron was always there. The real testament to Rons giving and helpful character is his many long time close friends, Tim Brown, Rod Miller, Alan Shead, Rick Slade and Paul Griss of Canmore, AB and their families who have always been close and especially supportive during his two-year battle with cancer. The family extends its gratitude to Rons surgeon Dr. West of Health Sciences Centre, and Dr. Vijay, Dr. Mihalcioui and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba - MacCharles Unit, and to the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre - 3E. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to Brain Tumour Foundation Of Canada, 650 Waterloo St., Suite 100, London, ON N6B 2R4, 1-800-265-5106 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, 204-787-4143.
