GORDON ALLEN Unexpectedly on March 23, 2003, Gordon Allen, husband of Ione (Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home, Winnipeg), father to Dawne (Marc) Summersfield of Wales, UK and Joan (Doug) Miller of Winnipeg, grandfather to Amber and Greg Miller, passed away. Gordon was born on July 8, 1917 at Weyburn, SK. He married Ione on November 7, 1942. He was very proud to have served with the Dambusters Squadron during the Second World War, and in the years following attended many reunions of the 617 Squadron. Gordon and Ione settled in Saskatoon where Gordon worked as a manufacturers agent. They spent every summer at their cottage at Carlyle Lake. Gordon enjoyed curling, golfing, bridge and socializing with their friends. After his retirement Gordon and Ione spent the winter months in Hawaii and Florida. He knew many people and was proud and pleased to call so many of them his friends. He will be sorely missed by all. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28 in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks All Beliefs & Faiths Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. A memorial service will be held at Whitebear (Carlyle Lake) at a later date. If so desired, friends may make donations to the Alzheimer Society, the disease of which Ione has fallen victim to recently.
