MARJORIE EVELYN KNOTT It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Marjorie Evelyn Knott on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 95 years. Marjorie was born in Dauphin, MB on November 29, 1907. The family moved to Winnipeg shortly after her birth. She attended Lord Roberts and Kelvin Schools, where she was active in sports and music, taking part in various operettas. She worked for the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary, making friends wherever she went. During the Second World War, she worked in Ottawa, returning to Winnipeg after the war. She was employed by the Manitoba Mining Association, until she retired. At one time she sang in the Westminster United Church choir and also in the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. After retirement, she became an active member of the Golden Rule Seniors at Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, where she sang in the Glee Club and joined the group of Square Dances. She was a long-time member of Calvary Temple. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Ellis and David Knott; sisters, Erva Wolfe, Bernice; and brothers, Norman and Ross. She leaves to mourn her passing a niece, Yvonne ( Fred) Peterson, of California, and grandnephews, Bradley, Brian and Bruce Peterson and their families all in the U.S.A. Also nephew Bill Wolfe, grandnephew Bill Wolfe, grandniece Janice Samimi and husband Mehran, great-grandniece Shereen all from Winnipeg. She will be missed by a host of friends, including long time neighbours, Eunice Dettman and Gail Carruthers. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 27 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the chapel. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 28 at 11:30 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the entire staff of CD4 at the Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care of Marjorie.
