ERNEST ANTHONY MELANSON It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Ernest Melanson on March 24, 2003 at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 70. Ernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gertrude; daughters, Lynn (Doug) Kaebe, Marie (Ken) Welsh, Jo-Anne (Jerry) Anderson, Cathy (Randy) Koop, and Donna (Paul) Kramer; sons, Michael and Robert; as well as 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Edmee, Anna, Ovidia, Doreen, Mildred, and Joyce; brothers, Robert, Joseph, Donat, and Thomas. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Pearl; sister Rita; brothers, Roger, Howard, and Raymond. Ernie retired from the Canadian Armed Forces with more than 23 years service. He had then been an owner/operator with Arnold Bros. Transport, and then with Big Freight Systems, retiring in August 2000. Cremation has taken place. No formal service will be held. A private family interment will take place at St. Boniface Cemetery on March 28 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital or to a charity of ones choice.
