Quietly, on Sunday, March 23, 2003, Phyllis Wozny passed away. To cherish her in their memories, she leaves her devoted husband Bill and her only daughter Bernadette (Osmond). Born June 25, 1930 in Winnipeg, Mom was raised in the North End and attended Holy Ghost School and St. Marys Academy. As a teenager her first job was waitressing at C. Kelekis. After High School, Mom was employed at Manitoba Health Services from 1949 - 1952, working with some of the earliest computers. Mom met Dad at Cooper Mosienko Bowling Alley in July of 1950. Their fist date took them to Skinners in Lockport. They married September 15, 1951 on Dads 21st Birthday. She always was and always will be his greatest gift. With Dad, Mom shared the home they built on Burrin Avenue, West Kildonan through most of their 51 years of marriage. Moms clerical career with Eastern Sales Chrysler Ltd. spanned the years from 1962 - 1986. Regrettably her retirement years were clouded with health concerns. Mom enjoyed her family and home and had a keen interest in sports. She was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues, St. Anthonys Mixed, Safeway Mixed and West Kildonan Employees Mixed. Mom loved the cabin at Grand Beach where many happy family vacations occurred. The beach was very special. You could always spot Mom, shed have a great tan. Mom was predeceased by her parents Adeline (1994) and Jack (1975) Dwyer. She is survived by members of the extended Wozny and Leiko families as well as friends and neighbours. Thank-you to the staff at Charleswood Care Centre and Grace Hospital who cared for Mom in her final year. Your efforts, care and concern were appreciated.
