Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFFORD JAMES BROOKS Surrounded by his loving family, Clifford passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2003. Clifford was born on December 14, 1921 to May and Alfred (Shorty) Brooks in Gladstone, MB. He resided in Gladstone for 80 years, relocating to the Portsmouth Retirement Residence in Winnipeg, in May 2002. At age 21, Clifford served with the Regina Rifles during The Second World War. He was wounded while in service. Upon return to Gladstone, he was employed 22 years with the Gladstone Transfer. He held various other employment and later co-owned Brooks Grocery with his wife Joyce; also M & B Welding, in partnership. Cliff volunteered as a fireman for 22 years and was a member of the No. 110 Gladstone Legion. He was also one of the founding members of Third Crossing Museum. He enjoyed helping his neighbours and friends and was passionate about skating and Lincoln cars. Cliff is survived by his loving wife Joyce; daughter Brenda (Maurice) sons, Bryan (Margaret) and Brent (Louise) grandchildren, Sandi (Roger), Jason (Shari), Colin (Lindsay), Barbara, Diane (Bevan), Jo-Anne (Damien), Jorden, and Kyle (Becky) great-grandchildren, Cameo, Benjamin, and Jayd; sisters, Edythe Philipps and Margaret Anstett and many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held in Gladstone, MB with interment to take place at the Gladstone Cemetery. Following the interment, Cliffs family will meet with friends for a time of remembrance and refreshments at 3:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church Annex. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6, or to a charity of ones choice. The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and support. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.
