Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE HEARN 1916-2003 With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, on March 26, 2003. Les lived his whole life with a focus on his family and friends. He will long be remembered for his fantastic sense of humour, his great story telling and a very special sparkle in his eye. Les was predeceased by his son Brian Leslie; his parents; and by his loving wife and pal Josephine of 56 and one half years. She passed away only two weeks ago on March 12, 2003. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christine (Patrick) Gannon, Elaine Guest, Richard (Michele) Hearn; grandchildren, Andrea (Jim), Stephen (Trichia), Marc, Kathleen, Laurelle, Kerri, Richelle, Leanne, Carmelle; and great-granddaughters, Carolyn, Rhyan, and Charlotte; sister Lorraine Ketcheson of Ottawa; brother-in-law Jack (Peggy) Whyte of Hamilton; sister-in-law Enda Jardine of Vancouver; also numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Les served as an officer in the RCAF during the war, and subsequently worked as a salesman with Christie Brown and Company for 42 years. Holidays were spent on travelling adventures with the family across Canada and the United States before settling with a community of friends at West Hawk trailer park during the summers and since 1969 at the summer/winter cottage at Falcon Lake. The welcome mat and open door filled the cabin with people and numerous parties and get-togethers were hosted over many decades. Les was a man of all seasons, developing a love for snowmobiling, fishing, sailing, dancing and playing cards. He actually built himself, by hand, a regulation fireball sailboat, which met all specifications and was registered as No. 1818. A CB enthusiast, his handle was "C-Biscuit" and the neighbourhood children referred to him as Mr. Christie. Les had a passion for the game of golf and fondly remembers paying under $2.75 for a round at Falcon. Les and Jos retirement years were split evenly between Arizona and Falcon Lake. Leslies memory will be celebrated by family and friends during prayers at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons Ave. on Sunday March 30 at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral mass to be celebrated on Monday March 31 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Chapel, 66 Birchdale Ave. with Fr. Lucien Roy celebrating. A great sense of humour, unique turn of phrase, spirit of adventure and the ability to celebrate each day are gifts that will be cherished by family and friends.
