EVELYN KATIE SMITH December 30, 1940 - March 27, 2003 Suddenly, on Thursday, March 27, 2003, surrounded by her loving family, Evelyn, beloved wife, mother and Baba passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her father Nick, mother Mary, sister Lydia, and brother Walter. Evelyn will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Ed; son Eddie; daughter Angeline (Clive) and her precious grandchildren, Lara and Devon; sisters, Stella, Irene, Kathy, Doris and Rose; brothers, George and Alvin; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Evelyn was born in Teulon, MB and grew up in the Balmoral area. She came to Winnipeg in 1957 to attend hairdressing college. Having the talent for styling hair, she eventually opened up her own home business. She also pursued a career as a health care assistant at St. Josephs Residence. She enjoyed many hobbies including baking, needlepoint, travelling, and spending time with family at her cabin in Winnipeg Beach. But most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks and Concordia Hospitals for their dedicated care and concern. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. also at the chapel with Deacon Lawrence Wakaruk officiating. Interment will follow in Victoria Cemetery, Balmoral, MB. Pallbearers are Darren Wolfe, Todd Wolfe, Calvin Ross, Gary Kalawarny, Warren Kalawarny and Gary McRae.
