ESTHER MALCHY (FLAX)

ESTHER MALCHY (nee FLAX) Esther passed away peacefully on the evening of February 28, 2003 after a year-long struggle following a major stroke. She was predeceased by her husband Louis; her sisters, Gladys and Irene; and her brother Bill. Esther was born September 12, 1912 in Winnipeg. She lived there for 60 years. She helped her husband in his electrical business for many years. Esther was a life member of Hadassah and active in the National Council of Jewish Women and the Jewish Womens Musical Club of Winnipeg. In 1972 she moved to Vancouver with her husband to be closer to her children. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her sons, David (Linda) and Howard (Paddy) her grandchildren, Michael (Kathy), Jonathan and Leslie; and her great-grandchildren, Noah, Bailey and Hallie; as well as nieces and nephews. A funeral service and burial was held at the Beth Israel Cemetery on March 3, 2003.
