RICHARD TOEWS With his family by his side, at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on March 15, 2003, Richard Toews, aged 76 years, passed away. He is survived by his beloved wife Lillian (and her family) his children, Valerie (Brian), Lorraine (Emile), Larry (Gail), Debbie (Bill) and Richard Jr.; 13 grandchildren, David, Rachel, Larry, Billy, Melony, Jennifer, Chloe, Allisa, Timber, Cody, Justin, Michael and Brandon; five great-grandchildren, Courtnie, Gavin, Caitlynn, Shawn and Evan; four brothers, Herb (Irene), Lorne (Elsie), Earl (Sonja) and Kenneth (Connie) three sisters, Grace (Larry), Evelyn (Ben) and Dora (Art) brother-in-law Audy, numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his father Abe; his mother Annie; his sisters, Inez and two in infancy and his grandson Dustin. Dad was born near Horndean, MB on May 2, 1926. In his early years Dad and his family moved to Togo, SK and then back to Barnsley, MB, eventually settling in the Fannystelle area. He attended Maplestead Elementary School and worked on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg. Dad worked in the marketing field, trucking and cartage industries and finally in the heavy equipment construction industry. He was employed by S&S Equipment Rentals Ltd. for more than 30 years prior to his retirement. Dad loved spending time with young children whether they were his own grandchildren or the children of friends and neighbours. He was a man of principle and conviction who rarely changed his mind once he had made a decision. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Dads funeral was held March 19 and he was interred in the Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herb Toews, Lorne Toews, Earl Toews, Kenneth Toews, David Griffin and Dean Young; honorary pallbearers were Larry Penner, Ben Rempel and Audy Beitz. Dads life has come full circle; he is at peace and will carry our love with him. We love you Dad.
