Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB (JAKE) WIEBE Born on June 1, 1931 in Horndean, MB, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2003, with his family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jake will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beryl; son Daryl (Kelly) with grand-children Jared and Ariel; and daughter Debra (Frank) with grandchildren, Cale and Pierce. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews in Manitoba. Jake grew up in Altona, MB, and moved to Vancouver at 21 years of age. He worked for the Kelly Piano Company, and for numerous local theatre companies, before completing a 32 year career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Jake retired from the CBC in 1986, but his love for television and theatre production kept him in the film industry as a scenic painter for 11 more years. He officially retired in 1997 and spent much of the last five years travelling the world with Beryl. Together they were very active in the Square Dance community, where they made many friends. He will be missed. No funeral service by request. Jake enjoyed a full life, and to honor him the family hosted a social to celebrate his life at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel, 15269 104th Avenue, Surrey, B.C. on March 16 at 3:00 p.m. If desired, donations in Jacks memory may be made to the Fraser Valley Cancer Centre for Mesothelioma research.
