WALDON A. BARKMAN Peacefully, on Friday morning, March 28, 2003, at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, with family at his side, Waldon Barkman passed away at the age of 92 years. Waldon was well known in the area as the proprietor of Steinbach Cold Storage from 1946 to 1967. His friendly outgoing personality won him many friends, both young and old. Later for a number of years Waldon took on the responsibilities as administrator of the Greenland Home near Ste. Anne. Waldon met and married Elma Toews, and shared 62 wonderful years together, spending their entire married life in Steinbach. Left to mourn his passing is his very beloved wife Elma, children, Ray and Darlene, Marian Wiebe (Hugh), Marg and Kerry Frayne all of Abbotsford, BC, Sid and Edith of Steinbach, and Carol and Clint Giesbrecht of Whitemouth, along with their families. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Steinbach. Friends may pay their last respects on March 30, 7:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel, and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Heritage cemetery.
