Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARON JOYCE OKOPSKI (nee REMPEL) September 6, 1960 - March 28, 2003 Peacefully, after a very brief illness, Sharon left us to join her parents. Left to mourn her passing is her very special and only daughter Victoria May Okopski; best friend and special partner Ron Owen; older sister Marlene Jewer and husband Tom; younger sister Elaine (Laney) Lilley and husband Darren; and her only niece Crissy. She is also survived by many friends and relatives. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Shirley and George Rempel, both only a few years earlier. Sharons greatest gift in life was Victoria and everyone knew she was the best mom a little girl could have. The time Sharon spent with Ron were some of the best years of her life as he always took extra special care of her. Sharon grew up in Charleswood and attended Royal School and Charleswood Collegiate. Sharon held many jobs over the years, most recently at Myers Delicatessen on Grant Avenue, where she was liked by all. Mom and Dad had a very special nickname for Sharon, "Share the Bear", which we all called her lovingly. She was well known for giving a great foot massage, and helping people in any way she could. She will be extremely missed by all. Sharon, we love you and miss you. Until we meet again. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements in care of: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715

I grew up down the street from Sharon and Victoria and quickly became like a part of their family. I still remember going to the park and movies together, being super small and having Sharon pick me up like an airplane, sleepovers and family gatherings I was invited to. Sharon was like a second mother to me. As we got older we started moving further and further apart and lost contact.. I didn't even know she was ill until I saw her name in the obituaries. I was crushed and couldn't imagine what Victoria was going through. Victoria, wherever you go, you will always be family to me, and I will never forget the moments with you and your mother. - Posted by: Trevor Thibert () on: Nov 25, 2017

Mom, you we're the best mom that a daughter could ask for. You were filled with love and did everything you could for me. I wish I had an opportunity to tell you. Life goes by faster than we sometimes expect, and you still live in our hearts, and especially everyday in mine. There is not a day goes by were I wish you were here. I hope you know that I'm doing better than okay. I'm so glad you brought me into the world. I know though that you are resting in paradise. xoxo - Posted by: Victoria Warkentin () on: Oct 16, 2014

I was friends with Victoria, and I was always at their place with them. We were so close. Sharon treated me like her own child, and became like a second mother to me. Over time, even after a couple moves and the distance between us going from down the street to across the city, we were always in touch. Then I heard about Sharon's passing and I just couldn't believe that I had to learn of it from the obituary sections. I guess we drifted further apart than I imagined. Sharon, I love you & I miss you. All of you. -Trevor - Posted by: Trevor () on: May 26, 2013
