Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY KRAMER October 29, 1911 to March 29, 2003 Peacefully at home Mary Kramer, aged 91 years, went to be with Jesus. She loved singing and music. This was her way of communicating her love for the Lord that continued to the end. One of her favourite songs was, "I sing because Im happy, I sing because Im free, for his eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me." Mary was predeceased by her husband Karl Kramer, her parents, Peter Dyck and Katerina (nee Peters) of Kronsweide Ukraine; four brothers and four sisters. Mary is survived by nieces and nephews; six stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Mary grew up in a loving and protected home until the age of eight, when bandits of the Russian Revolution shot her father and two brothers. Her mother and another brother died of typhus shortly thereafter. The remaining children were fostered by the Nick Voths family who shared what they had. At the age of 14 she accepted the LORD as her saviour. In 1925 Mary immigrated to Canada with her married sister Tina (William) Falk and settled in Herbert, SK. After years of working as a domestic, she moved to Gretna to complete her high school education at Mennonite Collegiate Institute. She entered the St. Boniface School of Nursing and graduated as an RN in 1945. She worked for 34 years as a nurse in several locations in Manitoba, viewing her work as a ministry to God and people; she retired in 1979. In 1983 she married Karl Kramer whose first wife had died three years earlier. Their love for each other grew through their 19 years together as they travelled the world, visiting family, friends and mission churches in Canada, United States, Pakistan, Germany, Alaska, Brazil and Paraguay. In the last few months she recalled with fondness the many adventures she had with Karl and expressed the desire to be reunited with him again in a place where (Song) "Well sing and shout the victory". Since February 2003, Mary was cared for by family members and Home Care attendants, who showed great love and patience attending to her needs. The family greatly appreciates their kind service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy.
