JOSEPH BERNARD SAUNDERS (SHAGLOSKI) In the loving embrace of his daughters and staff at Lakeshore Place in Burlington, ON on Saturday, March 29, 2003 Joseph quietly and peacefully passed to his Eternal Rest. Joe will be missed by his devoted and loving daughters, Bonnie Saunders of Burlington and Darlene Dochstader and her husband Bill of Stoney Creek. He will also be dearly missed by his granddaughter Andrea and her husband David Russell of Hamilton. Joe is now reunited with his dear wife Marion who passed away in 1997. Joe was also predeceased by his father Frank Shagloski, and his mother Anna and step-father Victor Podborochynski, all of Winnipeg, MB. Joseph is survived and lovingly missed by his sister Angela Weiss and her late husband Michael, his nephew Donald Weiss and his wife Theresa and their children, Hali Weiss and Dean Weiss and his wife Katharine and their daughter Gill all of Winnipeg, his niece Judy Baker and her husband Neil of Toronto and their children, Wendy, Kevin and Rod and his wife Rose and their daughters, Jessica, Andrea and Melissa. Joseph served during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a photographer and was stationed overseas in England. After the war he worked for the Canadian Oil Company in Toronto, then for The Shell Oil Company as Supervisor of the Bulk Plant in Hamilton, and later at Shell Refinery in Burlington, retiring in 1980 after 40 years service. Joe has always been a proud, kind and compassionate gentle man, treating family and friends with respect and dignity. Joe will also be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law, Patricia Dybala and Pauline Mazur, both of Toronto, and many nieces, nephews and cousins from his wifes family. Joe is also survived by his cousins, Frances Racozynski of Florida and Delores Dusyn and her son Gary of California and her daughter Debbie of Buffalo. Visitation at SMITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Lane (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Burlington Memorial Gardens (Guelph Line, north of Highway No. 5, Burlington). As Joseph suffered from blindness late in life due to Glaucoma, and also from Parkinsons Disease, the family ask that donations be made to the C.N.I.B., the Parkinson Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, any food bank or the charity of your choice. Bonnie and Darlene wish to express their sincere appreciation to all the wonderful, warm, friendly and compassionate staff of Lakeshore Place Retirement Home for accommodating us in our time of need. We know our Dad felt completely content and "at home" at Lakeshore Place. Thanks also to the staff of Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Ward 2 North for all their caring attention during Dads recent stay.
