Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID BARRY FISHER May 28, 1940 - March 30, 2003 Suddenly, with his wife Joan at his side. Besides his loving wife of 41 years, Dave leaves to celebrate his life; sons, Darren and wife Enrica, Scott and wife Jody; and daughter Kim and husband Craig; grandchildren, Jeremy, Braden, Samantha, Mekaela, Ashton, Meagan, Alana and Kristin; sisters, Betty Costen and Jean Robson; sister-in-law Pat Stertz and husband Bill; many friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Hilda; and brothers, Gordon, Don, Ray and Ken. Dad was born and raised in Dauphin, MB. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1953, where Dad met Mom. Dad loved to travel with Mom. He enjoyed camping and going to the lake and fishing with his grandkids. One of the highlights of Dads career at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary was the people he worked with and the friendships he made. He enjoyed working as a volunteer firefighter with the S.M.I. He also enjoyed working as a volunteer firefighter in Rosser. Dad developed a passion for antique tractors, big and small! This passion grew from his Moline, to the people mover, to having to re-model the spare room, now the tractor room, to accommodate his wall-to-wall collection of antique toy tractors. Dads biggest enjoyment with the tractors was meeting with the boys on Sunday afternoons to go down to the train and show them off. He always looked forward to the annual threshing get-together at Palmers and the laughs and memories that he shared with all his friends. We loved him. He was a wonderful, loving husband, dad, papa, firefighter and friend. He left a lasting impression with everyone he met. The memorial service will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, with Rev. Mary Best officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Palmer, Les Lillebo, Ed Anderson, Bruce Sabatini, Gerry Palmer and Dan Nichol. There will be a lunch to follow at the Grosse Isle Community hall for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dads memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, in care of arrangements.
