Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY MARY PIRT (nee WATTS) March 24, 1925-March 29, 2003 It is with great sorrow, we announce the sudden departure of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left to celebrate her life, although missing her dearly, are Bettys best friend and devoted husband of over 53 years, Ken; daughters, Debby (Bryan), Barb (Tim), Bev (Jeff) son David (Bonny) grandchildren, Rob (Dawna), Chris, Julie, Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Taylor. Betty was predeceased by her father, mother and brother, all of Kingston, ON. Born and raised in Kingston, ON, Bettys passion revolved around the Girl Guides until in 1945 she met the love of her life, Ken. Once their lives became one, her passion became her family and their many relocations as an Armed Forces family, finally settling in Portage La Prairie, MB. After the children had all left the nest, she decided to return to the workforce, retiring as manager of the local Sears store. Following her retirement, Betty became actively involved in the Portage District General Hospital Auxiliary, volunteering weekly at the hospital gift shop but never missed an opportunity to travel with Ken to numerous military reunions to visit with their many friends established throughout the years. All through her life, Betty maintained a strong Anglican faith. This helped give her the strength to deal with lifes many ups and downs, especially bravely coping with her recent challenges of bypass surgery and declining health. Through it all, she maintained a positive outlook for future adventures. Bettys life was her family and many friends, she will be sadly missed by all. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 2 at the Omega Funeral Home, Portage La Prairie, followed by a memorial service, 3:00 p.m. at the St. Johns Anglican Church, Carmen, MB. Interment to be at a later date. Betty, the time has come to say so long, You taught us how to be brave and strong. We hope throughout our lifetimes, we will be able to repay, The love and warmth you gave us each and every day. You did everything right that a wife, mother and grandmother could do, Never shall a day go by, when we will not think of you. You will be forever loved. Till we meet again! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bettys memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The family wishes to thank the efforts of the local emergency services. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Omega Funeral Home. Friends may leave a message and sign the register at our website www.omegafuneralhome.com "Where life stories live on"
