DAVID EMRYS JONES June 2, 1912 - March 30, 2003 Peacefully, on Sunday, March 30, 2003, with his family at his side, our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David, aged 90, passed away at Donwood Manor. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sheryl Bacon, Judy (Dave) Shultz, Kerry (Gladys) Jones, Cathy (Dave) Lavallee, Nancy (Glen) Line and John (Cindy) Jones. He also leaves his grandchildren, Sam (Jake), Todd (Iris), Karyn (Eric), Glen (Shelley), Kristy (John), Dan (Heather), Tyler, Travis, Tracey (Jason), Tricia (Paul), Kyle, Matthew L., Neil, Kelly, Courtney, Alyssa; and great-grand-children, Justin, Shey, Ashley, Marc, Karleigh, Matthew G., Adam G., Adam L., Eryn, Damon, Paige, Joshua, Jessica, Hailey, Taylor, Breigh, Reece and Rylan. He is also survived by his sister Myra (Mair) Russell. He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia in 1985 and son-in-law Ted Bacon in 2001. David was born in Beaufort, Wales and was very proud of his Welsh heritage. He came to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in 1929. It was here that he met and married Sylvia on August 21, 1943. David worked for Eatons, in the Bake Shop, for 37 years until his retirement in 1976. Throughout his life he enjoyed all sports whether being a participant or a fan. He also had a great love of music and could play almost any instrument he put his hands on. He was very involved in his church choir and in his later years was known as "the man who was always singing". David was a kind and loving gentleman with a terrific sense of humour. He always kept his family and friends laughing. He will be greatly missed and his spirit will remain in all those he touched. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Donwood Manor for their wonderful care and attention over the past seven years - to an absolutely awesome group of people - thank you. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Dr., with Chaplain Laura Friesen officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2G 0V9 or to a charity of ones choice. Oh boy, love ya Dad What a wonderful world!
