ALICE JEAN McDONALD (SCHOALES) Born December 23, 1914, in Fort William, ON, daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel Schoales, Alice passed away in Toronto on March 31, 2003, in her 89th year. Preceded in death by her husband and best friend Donald John McDonald. Beloved mother of son David George McDonald, daughter Elizabeth Jane McDonald and son-in-law Allan Michael Park; special friend of grandgodson Andrew Jesse Barlow. Fondly remembered by sister Myrle Laley; brother-in-law Arthur Laley; brother Herbert Schoales; nieces, Brenda (Jim) Linton and Wendy (Jim) Spiers; nephews, Clyde (Marianne) Schoales and John (Susan) Laley and their families; cousins, George (David) Aitkens, Mary Elizabeth and Jan Armstrong; missed by lifelong friend Lila McLaren of Thunder Bay, ON, and friends, in Winnipeg, Toronto and Sarasota, especially Betty Cable, Helen Sephton and Irene Smith. Predeceased by brothers, Jack and David Schoales; sister Margaret Schoales; and nephew Michael Smillie. She was a member of Kingsway-Lambton United Church and Lambton Golf and Country Club and former member of Palm-Aire Golf and Country Club in Sarasota. Special thanks to the team at Toronto Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit for loving care, and to Pastoral Care Minister, Dr. David Winsor (Kingsway-Lambton United Church), for spiritual support. All family, friends, golf and bridge partners are invited to celebrate Alices life on Tuesday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Kingsway-Lambton United Church, 85 The Kingsway, Etobicoke. Burial of Alices cremated remains, beside those of her beloved husband, will take place in Boissevain, MB, in the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toronto Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 650 Church St., Toronto, ON M4Y 2G5, or to a charity of your choice.
