ELEANOR BARKER It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harriet Eleanor Barker on March 31, 2003 at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in November 1995 and her sister Dorothy Parsons in February, 2003. Mom was born and raised in Camper, MB the second of six daughters born to DArcy and Christina Henderson. She served in the Womens Army Corp in the Second World War stationed in England. She married Arthur in 1948 and together began raising their large family on Chalmers Avenue in Elmwood. Mom was a driving force in the Womens Auxiliary of the Imperial Veterans Legion receiving two Meritorious Service Awards. Although physically small Moms heart was huge, encompassing her ever expanding family. She was stubborn and uncomplaining. She met life head on, uncompromising. She was generous and funny. Mom never shied away from "telling it like it is" including sending a letter to the editor expressing her views about the current world situation just days before she passed away. Mom loved and was loved so very much. At the end her heart just gave out. Mom is survived by her children, Greg (Lynda), Darryl (Linda), Randy (Tannis), Dale (Dwain) and Rod (Cindy) her grandchildren, Andrew and Kerry (Craig) Michael, Corey, and Shawn (Kim) Kristina and David; Laura; Candice and Morgan; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy, who gave her so much joy and Noah the most recent addition to the family; Jamie, Laurissa and Jessie; Chalsey and Justin; Kayla and TJ. She is also survived by her sisters, Thelma Price, Kay Price, Phyllis Montgomery (Eddie) and Evelyn Hjeldness and by numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital and Moms special friends and neighbours at 415 Edison who were always ready to help. Pallbearers will be Andrew Barker, Kerry McDonald, Michael Barker, Corey Barker, Shawn Mulvihill and Laura Freeman. Honorary pallbearer is Craig McDonald. There will be an opportunity during the service for friends or family to say a few words if they wish. In lieu of flowers we ask that friends consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom you were always there for us in more ways than we can express. We will miss you terribly. Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens 4477 Main St. 982-8300.
