JOHN HANCOCK WILSON
Born: Mar 04, 1926
Date of Passing: Mar 31, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HANCOCK WILSON Peacefully, with his family by his side, Dad passed away at his home on March 31, 2003. Dads memory will be cherished by his children, Glenda (Gerry) Stark, Ron (Claire) Wilson and Ken (Gail) Wilson; as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bea, in 1994 and his adopted son, Graham, in 1995. He was born March 4, 1926 in Neepawa, MB, moving to Winnipeg at a young age. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served overseas during the Second World War. Dad loved airplanes and, after the war, continued in aviation working with CPA, the RCAF and CAE. Dad was the consummate "Mr. Fix It". Throughout the family he was legendary for his ability to build or repair anything. In the early 1970s Dad turned his talents into a very successful business, doing home repairs and renovations. For the last 20 years, he established a picture frame shop and continued work until his passing. He took great pride in the quality of his work and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his customers. Most important to Dad were his family, for whom he was always patient and loving. He leaves a legacy of wonderful memories and his passing creates a huge void, which will not be filled. Dad was able to stay home during his brief illness and was blessed with daily visits from friends and family. He loved those visits and frequently said he had never been happier because of all the love that surrounded him. The family extends grateful thanks to all of you who made Dads last weeks so special by your visits and all the wonderful food (especially those Tipples). A very special thank you to Ron Foster for his daily visits and for quietly doing all those errands that made each day a lot easier. Finally, we know Dad would want a huge kiss to go to Dr. Teresa DeCloedt for bringing daily comfort and love to him. Teresa, you made a very difficult time bearable. Dad has donated his body to the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine and, at his request, there will be no funeral. An open house will be held at 594 Charleswood Rd. on April 3 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
