Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILIE KAMKE (nee BEGALKE) On Sunday, March 29, 2003, Emilie Kamke passed away at her residence, at the age of 76. She was born November 18, 1926 at Hochstadt, MB, the ninth of 13 children. She grew up with a love for the country, nature and especially animals. One of Emilies childhood pets included a fawn which followed her everywhere. She moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a housekeeper, and later as a clerk at a fabric store in Polo Park, and finally as manager at Coles bookstore. She met and married her best friend and soul mate, Victor Kamke on June 4, 1955. Together they enjoyed going out to his family farm, travelling to the Orient and Hawaii. They were constant companions until Victors death in 1997. She had many interests, such as crocheting, shopping, gardening and was an excellent seamstress and baker (she made the very best shortbread). She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Wilheimine; her sisters, Helen, Elsa and Adelina; brothers, Emmanuel, Peter, John, Wilhelm, Walter, Alfred, Arthur and Arnold. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Beth Huget, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m., with viewing one half hour prior to service, in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations in Emilies memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
