Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD STERLING HAMILTON It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Sterling Hamilton of Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Dad was predeceased by his soul mate of 61 years Sylvia Hamilton on February 5, 2003. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Doreen (Ben) Klein, Margaret (Ken) Farley, Ted (Wendy) Hamilton, all of Winnipeg, MB, Nancy (Rob) Friesen of Saskatoon, SK, Catherine Hamilton (Mal Rawlings) of Toronto, ON; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dad is also survived by one brother Bill Hamilton of Winnipeg and sisters, Ethel Jacques of Vancouver, BC and Nel Roy of Penticton, BC. Dad was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Dave and Orrie, and sisters, Ida, Grace, Jessie and Deb. Dad was born in Treherne, MB on April 16, 1916. The family moved to Winnipeg and he met Mom in 1941. They were married on May 3, 1941. Shortly after, Dad joined the army and was sent overseas to serve a duty of four years. Mom and Dad were longtime residents of East Kildonan. Dad loved to be outdoors. He worked for the city of East Kildonan and in the 1960s helped develop both "Frasers Grove" and "Centennial" Parks in East Kildonan. Dad also planted the elm trees located on the centre boulevard of Henderson Hwy. in East Kildonan. After retirement, Mom and Dad moved to an acreage in the Woodlands area. Dad built a new house for them and took great pride in his garden and yard. It was like a park! His final years were spent in the Donwood Care Home, with Mom by his side. Sincere appreciation to the wonderful and caring staff at Donwood Manor 2N for their exceptional care of Dad. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in Dads memory may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
