Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUDWIG HENDRICK BEKKERING January 16, 1935 - March 31, 2003 After a courageous battle, Lou completed his journey with family by his side. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 44 years, Ann; and children, Frank (Linda), John (Tammy), Herman (Doreen), Ludy (Angie), Sandra (Jack). Lou had nine grandchildren: Tyler, Amanda, Dylan, Crystal, Brittany, Cassondra, Jordan, Chantelle, and Samara. They will miss their Opa dearly. Lou is also survived by his three brothers, Harm (Hinke), Henk (Betty), Hans (Lillian). He was predeceased by Frank (father) and Lena (mother) Bekkering. Lou was a member of Covenant CRC. He was involved in numerous activities and partook in many roles during his life. Whether it was performing his job as a welder, coaching a kids soccer team, participating in the Dutch Club, volunteer driving for his friends at Hope Centre, being an eldest son, or a loving husband, father and Opa; one message came from him consistently: "Do things well; but be humble throughout". As a family we are all very proud of the life he lived. Especially with the strength and acceptance that was shown near the end. Lou may have left this earth in body; but his legacy will live on through all of us! The family would like to express our gratitude to the Palliative Care Team, with special thanks to Ann Ediger. The kindness, caring and understanding was truly a blessing through this trying ordeal. Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. in The Covenant CRC, 653 Knowles, North Kildonan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 9Z9.
