Stella was predeceased by her husband Metro in 1994; her parents, Anastasia (1973) and Alex (1972) Derewianchuk; brothers, Walter, Roland and Boris; sister-in-law Kay. Stella was born March 28, 1918 in Vita, MB. As a young woman she worked job to job, to help her parents make their prairie farm a home. She married Metro in 1940 and were devoted to each other for 53 years. Together they farmed in the Zhoda area, raising three children. In 1987, they moved to Vita, treasuring the activities and friendships at Shady Oak Lodge. They were fortunate enough to travel and made lifelong friendships. Moms strong faith in God sustained her through hardships and as a widow helped her overcome her grief. She was a long-time member of Nativity of B.V.M. Ukrainian Catholic Church (by Sopiwnyks) and together with Dad they worked lovingly and unselfishly for the church; making great sacrifices, so families of today may receive the fruits of their hard-earned labour. Ukrainian heritage and culture were also very dear to her. She lived life to the fullest, was an avid gardener, a great cook, and created beautiful works of embroidery. She gave freely of her gifted skill, making decorative Kolachee for many occasions. Visiting the sick with her love and prayers was a must. Moms greatest joy was her family especially her great-grandchildren (goodzichki), never missing a family gathering or a special occasion. She enhanced our lives with her love, kindness, generosity, deep faith, sacrifice and hard work. She touched the hearts of many and will be sadly missed by all that knew her. "In our hearts you will always live and we will love you dearly." Thank you God for the gift of our dear Mama, Baba, Pre Baba-Babtsia, a humble and grand lady. Rest in peace - Vichnaya Pamyat Pallbearers are Rod and John Picklyk, Jonathan Kyrzyk, Brian and Gordon Pasieka, Al Jones. Cross bearers are Randy Skromeda and Steve Derewianchuk.
