Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE FISHER January 3, 1921 - April 2, 2003 Peacefully, and with dignity at the Sharon Home, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers Disease, Bea passed away at the age of 82. Predeceased by her beloved husband Sidney in 1995, Bea leaves to mourn her children, Lynne and David Pesochin, Nita Lamendola, grandchildren, Teri Pesochin, Marlo and Marshall Morris and Jennifer Root; great-grandchildren Emma Sydni Pesochin and Sarah Haylee Morris; sister Ruth Slayen, brother Ben and sister-in-law Pamela Boal, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Leah and Jack Kaplan, sister-in-law Edith Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Prior to her illness, Bea was an active volunteer with the former Beth Israel Synagogue Sisterhood, BNai Brith Women and Seven Oaks General Hospital. She received a Certificate of Recognition for her volunteerism in 1994, The International Year of the Family, from the Government of Manitoba. A devoted wife and mother, Bea doted on her children and grandchildren. As a Baba, she adored her three granddaughters. They were, collectively, "the apples of her eye", and the word no was seldom in her vocabulary. Has she been able to, she would have delighted in the knowledge that she had two beautiful great-grandchildren, both of whom were named for their beloved Zaida Sid. Bea epitomized the humourous express, "If Mother says no, just ask Grandma". She was a loving, kind and generous woman who will be missed by family and friends alike. From the treasure-trove of letters written by Sid to his sweetheart Beatrice in the courtship years prior to their marriage in 1942, it is evident that the love they shared throughout their 53 years of marriage never waned. They were soulmates and are once again together, as they were always meant to be. Graveside services will be held at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery on Thursday, April 3 at 11:45 a.m., with Rabbi Neal Rose officiating. In the event of inclement weather, those unable to attend the services are invited to pay their respects to the family following the burial, at the Sharon Home, in the Mezzanine Level Atrium. The family wishes to thank the staff on the first, fifth and third floors for their kindness and the compassionate care afforded Bea during her years spent at the Sharon Home. And, to the staff on three south, our deepest gratitude for keeping Bea comfortable and granting her the respect and dignity that we so much wanted for her in the final stages of her illness. And, to Dr. Jack Rusen, thank you for your support and counsel by validating the difficult decisions needed to be made towards the end of Beas life. Those wishing to honour Beas memory may donate to the Sharon Home, 146 Magnus Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 2B4, or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 943-6622. Private shiva.
