Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS ISBISTER BUTTERWORTH On Wednesday, April 2, 2003, Douglas Isbister Butterworth, aged 77 years, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vera of 49 years, son Paul (Rosemary), daughter Dianne, sister Vera Oliver of England. He was predeceased by his brother Leslie. Doug began his career as a patternmaker for both the CN and CP Railway, serving two years with the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax. Later he joined Manitoba Hydro until his retirement in 1986. His pastimes included being involved with the Masons, Dormer Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite and the Khartum Temple Shrine Unit 101. He was an active volunteer, especially enjoying his work with the Manitoba Theatre Centre. Other interests over the years included coaching soccer and hockey. Doug and Vera enjoyed travelling together across Canada, Great Britain, Europe, the Caribbean and spending several winters in Victoria. Doug was an active member of St. Bartholomew Anglican Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent in the beginning years. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Dr., with The Rev. Bill Oakley officiating.
