GERALD (JERRY) SYDNEY DUDECK January 21, 1941 - March 18, 2003 It is with profound sadness that we announce that Jerry passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 35 years Elaine; his children, Sharon (Brent), Charlie, Marcie; and grandson Brandon; his mother Teenie; his sister Shelley; his brother Irvin; his uncle Yakel and numerous relatives and friends will also fondly remember him. Jerry was born and raised in Winnipeg and upon graduating with excellence from University of Manitobas Chartered Accountant program, he started his career in private practice where he worked for 11 years. In 1972 he began working for Revenue Canada as a tax auditor. After 40 years of working, he embraced his retirement in 2001. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family as well as dining out, travelling, and was an avid collector. He was intelligent, had a quick wit and also very sensitive to details, spending a great deal of time exploring cities. Jerry was a founder and active member of the Yachad group as well as perpetuating the Jewish culture by sending his children to Jewish school. He enjoyed old rock-n-roll music, thrilling action movies and comedies. He also was a very private man who loved spending time alone in peace and quiet. Jerry was a loyal and devoted husband, a generous and conscientious father, and a highly honest and principled "mensch." He was a straight shooter who spoke his mind with honesty, courage and strength. Jerry was highly disciplined, always maintaining high standards of excellence in all aspects of his life. He battled his final illness with calmness and perseverance, even then communicating his love to his family. We will remember Jerry as a loving and devoted man. All who knew and loved him, will miss him dearly. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
