Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEX WESELOWSKI With great sadness the family of Alex Weselowski announces his passing on Friday April 4, 2003. He died peacefully at home at the age of 80 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Alex leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Olga of 49 years, sons, Dale (Judy) of Calgary, Barry of Winnipeg; brothers, Peter (Nellie) of Winnipegosis, Mike (Lorraine) of Abbotsford, BC; sisters, Olga Weber of Winnipeg, Anne Kerilenko of Saskatoon, SK; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Irene; brothers, John of Prince George, BC and Bill of Hay River, NT. Alex was born in Fishing River and at an early age he moved with his family to a farm north of Winnipegosis. During the war he served in the army. Upon his discharge he moved to Sifton where he worked for Mary Maxim (Sifton Products), Custom Woollen Mills and also set up a hair salon. Later he worked for the post office. During this time he married Olga Wizniak. In 1958 they transferred to Winnipeg where Alex worked for the post office for several years and then at Greyhound for 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed sports, travelling, and gardening, and was a true nature lover. His easy-going personality and sense of humour endeared him to all that knew him. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bannerman at Arlington, with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alexs memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Nicholas Church, or to a charity of ones own choice.
