ELSIE DEANS On Saturday, April 5, 2003, Elsie Helen Deans passed peacefully with her family at her side. She was born on May 15, 1920 in Zora, SK. Elsie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; and her six children, Heather (Pat), Bob, Rosemary (Bill), Barbara (Dave), Gary (Jan) and Bill. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Ian, Mark and Jaremy; one sister Viola; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Conrad and Mary Lowenberger; brothers, Herbert and Albert; and sisters, Laura, Julia, Louise and Hattie. Elsie was well and truly loved. She was the kind of mother every child deserves. Throughout her life, Elsies focus was her family but she was so much more than wife and mother. An intelligent, well read, woman with many interests who loved good conversation, good books, and a good crossword puzzle. Elsie was also an avid gardener as anyone who saw her garden would agree. Always great company, those who knew Elsie never failed to be impressed with her gentle dignity. We would like to thank the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the compassionate care shown to Elsie and her family. A memorial service for Elsie will be held at First Mennonite Church, Notre Dame Avenue at Alverstone Street, on Wednesday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6). Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 338-7111
