Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ALBERT (BILL) FOSTER January 16, 1915 - April 7, 2003 Bill passed away on April 7, 2003 peacefully at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg with his family at his side, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dad ("Daddy Bill") was born on the family farm at Davis Point, MB to George and Mary Foster. His family later moved to Clarkleigh, MB where he married Clara Backman in 1937 and together they farmed until 1947. After moving to Lundar Bill operated heavy equipment until he bought into a trucking business hauling milk to Winnipeg. The milk truck operation later evolved into a gravel contracting business - Foster Trucking. Upon sale of his business to his son Albert, he began his retirement passions - restoring antique vehicles and old time fiddling. His vehicle collection became something to admire. His old time fiddling was often in demand - in early days with the Backman family at Clarkleigh and later with his buddies - the 1940 Playboys. Dad was a founding member of the Lundar Chapter of the BPOE (Elks). He was a strong supporter of their community work - operation of the Lundar Community Hall, and the Annual Goose Shoot and donations to various community activities. He joined the Ag. Society in 1969 and was President for two years, in 1974 and 1975. Dad and Moms home was always an "open door" home. Together, they took pride in having friends and family gather at their home. Mom always filled the table with food, Dad was first to pull up his chair! Dad and Mom celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December 2002. Bill is survived by sons, Lorne (Lue) and Ken; daughters, Lorraine (Bob) Morsette and Bev (Wayne) Page; and daughter-in-law Doris. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand-children. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Harold, Charles, Winston and Earl Backman; and sister-in-law Dorothy Hunter; a stepmother-in-law Vera Backman; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Clara in January 2003; daughter Kristin (in infancy) a son Albert; a granddaughter Charmaine Foster Lisi; daughter-in-law Sharon; sisters, Winifred, Beatrice, and Edith; brothers-in-law, Daniel and Kristjan Backman; and a sister-in-law Elinor Byron. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Lundar Lutheran Church in Lundar, MB, with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. Interment will be held at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearer is Stan Burdett and honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand-children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lundar Lutheran Church or a charity of ones choice. To the Seven Oaks Hospital, we thank you so much for the wonderful care and caring - you - the nursing staff and all the health care workers, gave of yourselves for Dad and his family. It will never be forgotten. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME ASHERN - LUNDAR 1-204-768-2072
