PETER AMMETER On Sunday, April 6, 2003 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, Peter Ammeter, aged 95 years, passed away. Peter was born on May 16, 1907 in Arigar, GA. He came to Canada with his family in 1929. During his first few years in Canada he worked in a lumber camp and on farms in Western Canada. He settled in Starbuck and ran a small dairy and grain farm. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Gottleib and Rosina (nee Daiber) as well as seven brothers, Fritz, Arnold, Siegfried, Gottleib, Otto, Erwin and Emil; as well as two sisters, Emma Ammeter of Winnipeg, and Elise Ammeter of Starbuck. He is survived by one brother Walter of Starbuck and one sister Frieda Ammeter of Winnipeg. Peter enjoyed playing cards with his brothers, and in later years gardening and working around the yard. He was a man of few words but had a keen insight into human nature. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. Interment will take place in the Starbuck Cemetery, Starbuck, MB. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Carman Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care of Elise as well as the staff of the Home Care Regional Health Authority. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Starbuck Cemetery Trust Fund. Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
