KATHLEEN "KAE" ZELENSKY On Friday, April 4, 2003 at the Victoria Hospital with her family by her side, Kae went to her eternal home. Kae was born in Baudette, MN on October 7, 1910 during the time of which the whole town of Baudette burnt down. Her parents, Annie and Peter Polak moved on to settle in Winnipeg Beach, where she resided as a young child. At the age of 15 she left home and resided in Winnipeg and worked as a domestic helper. At 19 she married Larry Zelensky and lived in St. Boniface. In 1937 she started her own cafe called Kaes Lunch at 669 Marion. In 1952, she moved her business to 407 Marion and served many patrons who became her friends for many years. Kae always had her keen wit and funny jokes and sayings for everyone who met her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Kae was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Annie Polak; brother Albert Phillips and brother Johnnie Polak. Kae leaves to cherish her memory her dearly loved sister and confidante Mary Forsyth and sister Jean Demetrioff. She also leaves her niece Marilyn (Les) Brown and children, Marnie and Les Brown; her nephew Melvyn (Esther) Demetrioff and children, Garth and Glen; niece Janice and nephew Murray Phillips. Kae, may a portion of your humour, wisdom and love of life live on in all those whose lives you have touched.
