ROBIN LOUISE LANSDOWN Robin Louise Lansdown (nee McCreath), born February 20, 1941 in Westport, New Zealand, died peacefully on April 10, 2003, surrounded by her loving family. Her enduring strength and courage throughout a lengthy battle with leukemia was an inspiration to us all. "Puddling along" was always her answer to how she was doing, even in her worst moments. Robin was a lover of all things living, from the plants in her garden to the family and friends she nurtured and supported throughout her life. Generous of spirit and soul, she always had room in her life for others. For a generation of youngsters at Farlane, she was Mummy Lansdown, as warm and comforting as the smell of her fresh-baked bread. For her family, she has been our touchstone, the one we always counted on, the one we reached out to when times were tough, when we needed sustenance. Robin taught swimming at the Sherbrook and Sargent pools where she excelled working with the handicapped and where her combination of patience and confidence made people believe in themselves. She worked for many years with the St. Johns Guild of Childrens Hospital. There are friends around the world whose lives have been enriched by Robin, by her cheerful zest for life, and by her interest and concern for those she loved. Many people carry a piece of Robin in their hearts and minds. Robin, daughter of Digger and Joy McCreath, is survived by her partner Costas Nicolaou; her mother Joy; children, Douglas (Darlene), Ian (Leah) and Virginia (Cam) brothers, Dougal (Ann) and Peter (Linda) children-by-friendship, Ellie (Philip) Spanos and Alex (Pamela) Nicolaou; niece Jen; and nephews, James, Ian and Chris. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and will live forever in our memories. Friends are invited to an informal celebration of Robins life at 4:00 p.m., Saturday April 12 at the Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, 925-1190. Robin asked that special thanks be given to Dr. Bow, Pat Benjaminson and the staff of CancerCare Manitoba - Leukemia BMT Unit, as well as the staff of the Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Robins memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, (787-4143). Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I just remember Doug and I always trying to "not get caught" by his mom. But she always had a smile on her face. (at least when I was there. Not sure Doug can say the same) lol. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I stumbled across the obituary on the Internet. Again I'm truly sorry for your loss. - Posted by: KELLY HOGAN (Dated her son many years ago) on: Aug 08, 2015
