HORST ERICH POCHERT It is with much sadness that we announce the death of our father, Horst Pochert at the age of 77 years. What is strength? Strength is the man, who on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 bravely came to the end of his journey at the Grace General Hospital after battling emphysema and cancer. Horst will be lovingly remembered and missed by his sons, Wolfgang (Cheryl) and Harold (Pat) five grandchildren, Kimberley, Stefanie, Erika, Daniel and Christopher; as well as many relatives in Germany. He was predeceased by his loving wife Erika Pochert who passed away in 1998. After having worked as a production line maintenance worker for many years at Blackwood Beverage, Clovercrest Honey and The Royal Canadian Mint, Dad looked forward to his retirement years where he could pursue his interest in woodworking. There was scarcely a spot in his home, his Gimli summer home or his families homes that werent adorned with a birdhouse, doorknocker or simple decoration that was handcrafted and painted by his careful hand. Respecting our fathers wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, April 16 in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. at Sharp Boulevard. Our family extends a sincere thanks to the staff on the Fifth Floor and Emergency Ward of the Grace General Hospital for their care and dignified treatment of our father in his time of need. We would also like to thank our friends and good neighbours for their kind support through this difficult time. "Rest in Peace Dad, We Love You."
