ANNIE (ANNE) TOWNSEND (nee ROBERTSON) May 19, 1914 - April 11, 2003 The smile is gone but the memories will linger on forever. Words cannot express the sorrow we feel while we mourn the death of Anne Townsend, who passed away in the arms of her children Ian and Win on Friday at Concordia Place. Anne was predeceased by her husband Bert after 61 years of marriage. Her mother Mary passed away when Anne was ten years old, leaving her to keep house and look after her dad Alex Robertson and brothers, Alex and Ian. In her younger years she was a diligent worker for the Anglican Summer Camp, St. Phillips Anglican Church and Cubs and Scouts. She was an amazing mother-in-law to Win and a caring, loving grandmother to Tara-Lee and Scott. She adored reading and playing games with her great-grandson Tyler and leaves to mourn her son Ian, daughter-in-law Win; grandchildren, Tara-Lee and Scott (Lisa) and great-grandson Tyler. Also Pauline Hart, a special person, (more than an in-law) who has always been there for the "Townsends" especially for my Mom and Dad for over 44 years of tears and laughter. Mom spent many years bringing joy to everyone who touched her life. She especially loved children, animals, music, poetry and sports. She was an active, lifetime member of Norwood Rebekah Lodge No. 42 as well as Theta Rho from which she drew a tremendous amount of pleasure. A special heartfelt thanks to everyone with Concordia Place Care Centre where Mom has lived for almost three years. She loved her time there and shared the love she received from everyone. The halls will be a little emptier without Annie propelling her way with walker or wheelchair and greeting everyone with that great smile! Flowers gratefully declined, if so desired donations may be sent to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. "Special" is the word that best described you...
