Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET MARY STEWART On Friday, April 11, 2003 Violet Stewart (nee Brown) passed away at West Park Manor Personal Care Home. Mom was born in Winnipeg on May 12, 1912 and was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) in 1979 and her parents, Amelia and John Brown; her brothers, Lewis, Lawrence, Gordon (in infancy), Fred, Russell and Jack; and her sisters, Jennie Bishop, Lil Smith (Firth), Mabel Doersam and Gertie Robinson. Mom is survived by her two sons, Don (Kathie) of Thunder Bay and Doug (Arlene) of Winnipeg; and 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews, especially Kay Martin (Rhoades) (Firth) who was more like a sister than a niece. Prior to moving to West Park Manor in 2000, Mom spent almost 55 years on Sumach Street in Kirkfield Park. Mom enjoyed many years of bowling with the Village Inn Golden Agers, sewed Barbie clothes for all her grand and great-granddaughters as well as for many others. She provided many pairs of knitted mittens and slippers for all. Mom enjoyed the friendship of many neighbours, especially Alice and Barry Wood and Jan Faires. Cremation has taken place and interment of her cremated remains with her mother and father at Brookside Cemetery will be done at a later date. A reception for family and friends will be held at West Park Manor on Tuesday, April 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Special thanks from the family to the dedicated and compassionate staff at West Park Manor for their wonderful care.
