JOHN CHARKEWICH (CHARKEWYCZ) Peacefully on April 13, 2003, John Charkewich passed away at Concordia Place at the age of 86 years. John will be sadly missed by his wife Beatrice; stepsons, Greg Muzychka (Carol), Robert Muzychka (Lori) stepdaughter Pat Graham; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his brothers, Victor and Mike; sister Sonia Kolisnyk and many nieces and nephews. John was born on March 6, 1917 living most of his life in Transcona. His hobbies included hosting garage sales, knitting, making rugs and doing crafts. In his later years, he got great enjoyment from going to Club Regent and taking Sunday drives to Lockport. All who knew him will miss his great story telling. A special thank you to Robert for thoughtfully making arrangements for Johns care over the past couple of years. The family also wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Concordia Place for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Rev. Victoria Luke officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
