CATHERINE COLLINS (nee STEELE) Peacefully, on Friday, April 11, 2003, at Lions Personal Care Centre, Kay Collins passed away at the age of 85 years. Kay was born in Winnipeg on November 20, 1917, and has resided here most of her life. She is survived by her daughter Dale Aitken and son-in-law Doug, grandson Craig and granddaughter Tannis and her husband Wayne Kyrzyk. She is also survived by sisters, Clara Craig of Victoria and Isabel (Peter) Frenken of Vancouver; brother Jim Steele of Victoria; as well as many nieces and nephews. Kay was one of the original residents of Lions Place. She enjoyed the many friendships she made during her 17 years there until she became one of the first residents of the new Lions Personal Care Centre in May, 2000. She truly had a spirit that said "never give up", having battled cancer, a debilitating stroke and other health difficulties during recent years. Deepest gratitude is extended to the truly exceptional staff at Lions Personal Care Centre for their kindness and wonderful care during the past three years. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m. at Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire, donations to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
