Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN MEADMORE Ten days after she celebrated her 95th birthday, Mary Evelyn Meadmore passed away on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law at Oak Lake, MB. Evelyn was born April 3, 1908 in Carman, the youngest child of Hill and Mary Pritchard. She attended a rural school until she went to high school in Carman. This was followed by Normal School in Manitou, MB and teaching in several rural schools. While teaching at Webster S. D. she met her husband-to-be Robert Meadmore, and they were married February 11, 1933, in her parents home south of Carman. Together they farmed near Culross, MB and raised four children. Her husband passed away Nov. 1, 1975 in Elm Creek, MB. She continued to farm with her sons until 1998 when they all retired from active farming. She had a lifelong love for flowers and for her family. She made many beautiful quilts, afghans, sweaters, mittens and slippers for herself and others, perfect in every stitch. In her later years she enjoyed scrabble, playing her last game the day before she died with her great-granddaughters, Jill and Jocelyn. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, writing poems, receiving cards, letters and phone calls. She was predeceased by her husband Bob; her father and mother; and her brothers, Earl, Bill and Ed. She is survived by her sister Mildred McCutcheon; her son Ron (Marion), grandsons, Glen, Neil (Kelleanne), James; son Digby (Carol), grandchildren, Heather, Rob; daughter Louise Baisi (Elio) daughter Dorothy Winters (Jack), grandchildren, Leah Lees (Wayne), Della Lee (Gilbert), Rory (Marika), Jennifer Delavau (Allan), Daniel (Apinya). She thoroughly enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren grow up. They are Michael, Joy Schwindt (Jason), Jill and Jocelyn Lees, Erin, Samantha and Katherine Lee, Jordan and Karsen Winters, Nicholas and Emily Delavau, Katya Winters, Dakota and Kayla Meadmore and her only great-great-grandson Layne Schwindt. Viewing will be held at Doyles Funeral Chapel, 10 - 4th Avenue S. E., Carman, MB, on April 16 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be in Elm Creek United Church on Thursday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial in Carman Cemetery. She wrote this verse for her last birthday: "I little thought that Id survive To reach the age of ninety-five But since I have Ill just be glad Of all the years that I have had."
