Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA MOCHNASKI Peacefully at the Betel Home, Gimli, Lena Mochnaski, aged 89 years, of Gimli, MB, passed away on April 13, 2003. Lena was born in Dnister, MB on May 8, 1913, daughter of the late Nykola and Nastia. She worked several jobs in Winnipeg, including the Royal Tea Room. After 25 years of service, Lena retired from Burns in 1972. The next few years Lena spent most of her time with her mother in Gimli on the family homestead. Lena enjoyed her time in Gimli, feeding the birds, tending the garden and her favourite, cutting grass. Lena returned to Winnipeg to live until 1998 when she moved back to Gimli and lived with Elly and Randy and their children. She spent many hours reading to the children and working on puzzles. She resided at the Betel Home in Gimli for the past year. Lena was predeceased by a brother John (Annette) sisters, Anne Yaworski (Louis), Katherine Yaworski (Mike), Mary Lechow (John) and Helen Gladstone and a nephew Harry Gladstone. She leaves surviving a brother-in-law Jack Gladstone; nieces and nephews, Walter Yaworski (Myrna), Eleanor Yaworski, Phillip Gladstone, Raymond Gladstone, Peter Yaworski (Beverley), Elly Acton (Randy) and their families. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gimli with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow in the Dnister Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Chapnick, Lynn and the staff of the Betel Home for all their care and kindness.
