Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLANCE JAMES FERGUSON 1958 - 2003 Unexpectedly, but with closing serenity, Lance James Ferguson passed away at home in Calgary in the early morning of Sunday, April 13, 2003, at the age of 44 years. The son of Yvonne Prefontaine (Real) and James Ferguson (Doreen), Lance was born October 23, 1958, in Winnipeg, MB, where he undertook his early education. He completed his high school studies at Robert Borden School in Ottawa, and then graduated with a diploma in computer studies from the South Winnipeg Technical School. In June, 1985, Lance married Monique Bourrier of Winnipeg, and together they had two children: Shanna, born April 15, 1989, and Devin, born April 30, 1994. They were the joy of Lances life, and from him learned the fine art of fishing. Shanna and Devin both remember Lances engineering skills in the construction of winter forts, and will always think of their father as providing comfort and protection to them. Lance had an extensive career in computer sciences, including system installations and start-ups all across Canada, and in Indianapolis, IN, and Tyler, TX. Prior to his death, he worked for a corporate computer services company in Calgary. Lance will be remembered always for the legacy he leaves in Monique, Shanna, and Devin, and also for his relentless pursuit of the perfect Cajun barbeque sauce to accompany his ribs and chops. Lance was an accomplished musical historian, and was very proud of his remarkable collection of bayou and delta blues recordings. Shanna and Devin both absorbed their fathers love of music, and will remember him through their own recordings and albums. If not listening to music, Lance would immerse himself in science fiction, and in sports. His reading library was encompassing and very well thumbed, and he was devoted to baseball, football, and golf. Devin follows in his fathers basepaths, and is a budding rookie in the Calgary Little League. In addition to Monique, Shanna, and Devin, Lance is survived by his parents; by two brothers, Shane Ferguson (Elaine) of Winnipeg and Kevin Prefontaine (Debbie) of Hull, PQ; and by a sister, Nicole Prefontaine, of Ottawa. Further, Lance leaves an extended family of relatives, in-laws, and friends, all of whom mourn his passing, but are comforted by the secure knowledge that he is now at peace, and with his Lord. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Lance will be held at the Glenlawn Funeral Chapel, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service, after which the immediate family will greet Lances friends and relatives for refreshments and companionship.
